The Therapeutic Process

In my practice as a Narrative therapist, I collaborate with clients to explore and challenge the stories the world has told them about themselves that they may have unconsciously internalized as true. Deeply ingrained narratives often limit our perception of who we are and what we can be, constraining our potential for emotional growth, self-understanding, and preferred ways of representing ourselves.

As part of the therapeutic process, I invite clients to integrate mindfulness practices as tools to support our work together. Meditation and body awareness techniques can allow clients to step back from overwhelming historical narratives and get distance to observe how these ingrained stories can be limiting. As an added approach, it will enable a client to stand apart from the limiting narratives, investigate their origins, and help build a strong foundation towards overcoming the concerns that brought them to counselling.

My Professional Experience

My expertise has been shaped by diverse experiences working with individual clients across various life stages and backgrounds. I approach each therapeutic relationship with deep respect and openness for a client's cultural and social identity and treat each client with dignity as the expert in their life.

I have experience working with individuals struggling with substance use disorder, supporting them in both private practice and inpatient treatment settings. I have worked with individuals exploring their sexual identities and the acceptance of their differences in values from their family of origin. I have worked with couples struggling in relationships and individuals trying to navigate finding a new partner. I have experience working with individuals from queer and poly communities. I have experience providing patient care counseling in a residential hospice, giving me profound insight into end-of-life concerns, grief, and loss for those who are dying and those who are left behind after a loved one's death.

Working with Artists

As a practicing artist, I have a special connection with creative individuals. I understand the unique challenges artists and other creatives face—the struggles with motivation, creative blocks, and the complex emotional landscape of artistic practice. This personal and professional understanding allows me to support those seeking to understand and overcome obstacles in their creative journey.

My Practice

At the heart of my practice is a deep commitment to creating a safe, compassionate, collaborative environment. I approach each therapeutic relationship respectfully, believing each client is the true expert in their own life. My role is to provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where the transformation of one’s concerns can unfold naturally. Helping individuals uncover lost knowledge about themselves and reconnect with their inherent strengths, we work together to develop a preferred and fulfilling life narrative. Some narratives constrain us, while others hold the potential for profound personal liberation. In Narrative therapy, we can explore your origin stories, challenge limiting beliefs, and create pathways to a more authentic, desired sense of self.
